What is Title 1?

Part A (Title I) of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), as amended, provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

To ensure that all children have a opportunity to obtain a high fair, equal, and significant quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

 

what criteria must be met for a title 1 school?

A Baltimore City School that serves any students in grades PreK 8, with a poverty rate of 35.4% or higher will be designated as a Title I school. This eligibility criteria includes Middle/High Schools.

A Baltimore City School that serves any students in grades PreK 8, with a poverty rate of 35.4% or higher will be designated as a Title I school for SY2020/21. This eligibility criteria includes Middle/High Schools. A total of 108 schools meet this criterion to be a Title I school for SY2020/21.
