what is a school family council?

The School Family Council operates like an oversight board for the school and is made up of administrators, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders. Every Baltimore City Public School must have an SFC or equivalent. School Family Council is not the same as a PTA or PTO, although it should work closely with the parent group at your school. Instead, the SFC “reviews and approves the school improvement plan, provides advisory input to the school’s budget, and assists in the selection of the principal.”
